All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at Ela Conf, throughout a mentorship, on Slack, and community events are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout Ela Conf, the community, and for the duration of a mentorship. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
Ela is a conference and community for adult (18+) women (cis and trans), trans men, and genderqueer people.
The Ela email is hello@elaconf.com. Relevant phone numbers will be shared before the conference and during the mentorship matching phase.
During Ela Conf and community events, you can reach out to the organizers for help:
During Ela Conf, at least one organizer will be at the registration table. The organizers will be introduced at the start of the event on both days and will wear organizer badges.
Ela Conf and the community is dedicated to providing harassment-free experiences for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any event, including conferences, talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media, Slack, throughout the duration of the conference and a mentorship. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from Ela Conf without a refund (when applicable) and the community at the discretion of the organizers.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. At Ela Conf or within the Ela community, sponsors (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise, create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from Ela Conf with no refund and removed from our community including our Slack channel.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an organizer immediately. Organizers will be introduced on the site as well as before any event.
We will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance and participation.
We expect participants, attendees, volunteers, mentors, sponsors, and speakers to follow these rules at all Ela Conf including social and community events, in our Slack channel, and throughout the duration of a mentorship relationship.
